The following message has been relayed to the PEIFA by the DFO’s resource manager today (Friday, Sept 22nd, 2023):  ‘Currently the PEI halibut quota is at 93% captured.  Since there is only a small amount of quota remaining, the fourth opening next week will only be from 6am – 6pm, for one day.  Right now, it is potentially looking like the opening could be on Thursday, September 28, for 12 hours.  DFO will confirm the exact opening date on Monday with a Notice to Fish Harvesters, after reviewing the forecast Monday morning with input from groundfish representatives.  Please pass this message on to your fishers and fleet representatives so they can plan accordingly.’
