Employment Opportunity - Field Technician 

4 month contract 

The Prince Edward Island Fishermen’s Association (PEIFA) is seeking a Field Technician for 4 months (July through November) to support our Science Research Staff.

Position responsibilities include but are not limited to:

·       Ability to work outside in all types of weather on wharves and boats;

·       Ability to handle all types of marine organisms; rock crab, lobster, halibut, etc.; 

·       Data Entry;

·       Maintenance of field gear;

·       Organization of data collection documentation;

·       Ability to modify/adapt work plans throughout the day;

·       Strong work ethic;

·       Ability to work with minimal supervision within a team environment

·       Ability to work with multiple technology platforms: Mac, Windows, tablets, etc.; 

·       Demonstrate discretion and maintain integrity of member information;

·       Ability to work in office setting

·       Safety protocols compliance

·       Some weekend work may be required

·      Travel within PEI required – mileage paid 

$20 - $22 per hour 

37.5 hours per week

The following skills will be considered an asset:

Previous education in the biology/wildlife fieldwork is preferred. However, a combination of education and personal experience in the marine fishery will be considered.

·       Above average computer and organizational skills

·       Ability to multitask

·       General knowledge of commercial fisheries on Prince Edward Island

·       Ability to comprehend new information quickly

·       Excellent verbal communication skills
