Please note:

All Captains that are active core fishers in Prince Edward Island are required to have their sea service documents verified at their local DFO location. An OperatorsCertificate is required for fishing vessels if the overall length of the vessel is more than 13 meters(42 feet, 8 inches).

DFO will issue documents that are then to be taken to Transport Canada.

Captain's papers will then be issued by Transport Canada.

Captains may be liable for fines up to $1100.00 if these papers are not in place by May 1 ,2011.

For more information please contact Transport Canada, General Inquiries at (902) 566-7986.
