MARITIME ELECTRIC CABLE PROJECT 
UPDATE – Oct 21, 2016
TEMPORARY SAFETY & RESTRICTED ZONE 
 
Maritime Electric has advised that Transport Canada has established temporary security zones around the Cable vessel. 
 
Please note the Isaac Newton left Charlottetown last night.
 
Attached is the Map for reference for the fishers. There is an exclusion zone to Borden Point except for local traffic with restrictions.
 
Please note there is a safety zone around the vessel for the Project and the restricted zone is only happening when the installation work is being carried out and all notifications will be on broadcast notice to shipping.
 
 
NOTICE TO SHIPPING FOR THE DURATION OF THE OPERATIONS:
CABLE LAYING OPERATIONS WILL TAKE PLACE IN NORTHUMBERLAND STRAIT IN AN AREA JUST EAST OF THE CONFEDERATION BRIDGE FROM OCTOBER XX, 2016 UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. M/V ISAAC NEWTON AND MULTIPLE SMALLER WORK VESSELS WILL BE TRANSITING AT REDUCED SPEED ON NORTHEASTERLY AND SOUTHWESTERLY COURSES IN CLOSE VICINITY OF THE BRIDGE. THE CABLE LAYING VESSEL WILL BE RESTRICTED IN HER ABILITY TO MANOEUVRE DURING THESE OPERATIONS. ALL VESSELS ARE REQUESTED TO STAY CLEAR AND COME NO CLOSER THAN 500 METERS FROM THE ISAAC NEWTON. ALL PROJECT VESSELS WILL BE MONITORING VHF CH12 AND 16.

A MARKED CABLE UNDER VERY HIGH TENSION WILL BE TOWED FROM THE M/V ISSAC NEWTON TO THE SHORE IN BORDEN-CARLETON P.E.I. FOR SAFETY, THE FOLLOWING AREA IS RESTRICTED TO PROJECT VESSELS ONLY, FROM OCTOBER XX, 2016 XX:XX UTC TO OCTOBER XX, 2016 XX:XX UTC.
THE RESTRICTED AREA IS BOUNDED BY THE FOLLOWING COORDINATES:
1. 46 14 27N 063 41 21W (STRAIT CROSSING WHARF)  
2. 46 14 01N 063 41 43W 
3. 46 14 30N 063 42 56W (AT CONFEDERATION BRIDGE) 
4. 46 14 59N 063 42 23W (BORDEN POINT)

A MARKED CABLE UNDER VERY HIGH TENSION WILL BE TOWED FROM THE M/V ISSAC NEWTON TO THE SHORE IN CAPE TORMENTINE NB. FOR SAFETY, THE FOLLOWING AREA IS RESTRICTED TO PROJECT VESSELS ONLY, FROM OCTOBER XX, 2016 XX:XX UTC TO OCTOBER XX, 2016 XX:XX UTC.
 
THE RESTRICTED AREA IS BOUNDED BY THE FOLLOWING COORDINATES:
1. 46 07 47N 063 47 09W
2. 46 08 12N 063 45 37W
3. 46 07 37N 063 45 17W
4. 46 07 17N 063 46 54W
