LFA 24 NARW closure

These grid(s) will be closing on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at 5:00 p.m.

DFO is providing a 96-hour delay for the above grid closure(s) due to the weather forecast. All gear affected by this notice must be removed from the closed area before the time of closure.

This is a 15 day closure and day 1 begins on the official day the closure activates. DFO will send flights over the area between days 9 and 15 of the closure. If NARW are sighted during that time, as per DFO protocol, the area will remain closed until NOV. 15. If no whales are seen between days 9 and 15 the grids will reopen after day 15.

Due to the confirmed NARW sighting between the 10 and 20 fathom line the grid closure is limited to waters deeper than 10 fathom. Therefore, fishers are allowed to fish in waters shallower than the 10 fathom protocol line.

The following coordinates create the border of closure area affecting LFA 24. The highlighted ones represent those creating the DFO 10 fathom protocol line extending the area of the closure.
