FYI – DFO Notice to Fishers attached confirming the PEI halibut reallocation will open Monday, October 11^th but will close if the quota nears 100% or by Friday, October 15^th (which ever of those two scenarios come first). Also, ALL eligible halibut fishers on the draw list who have expressed interest to the PEIFA in participating have been green lighted to fish next week. Your new license conditions should be available on your NOLS, and if they are not in NOLS, those fishers should contact DFO licensing asap. Reminder that DFO licensing is closed on Monday with the Thanksgiving holiday. To be clear, everyone on the draw list (#1 to #324) who were eligible (effort in the main fishery) and relayed interest in participating will be able to fish in the reallocation. This is a total of 174 commercial license holders. If the reallocation fishery nears 100%, DFO will notify the PEIFA of the time/date of the close time and we will post that info ASAP for fishers.

Notice to Fish Harvesters

2021 PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND – ATLANTIC HALIBUT FISHERY - REALLOCATION

Charlottetown, PE – October 7, 2021 - Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) is announcing the reallocation fishery for Atlantic Halibut in Prince Edward Island (PEI).

Individual Allocation: The Atlantic Halibut reallocation fishery has an individual catch limit of307 kg round weight, for eligible participants. To convert dressed (head on, gutted) weight to round weight, multiply dressed weight by 1.14. The maximum individual by-catch limit of cod is 50kg. All fishing activities must cease once this by-catch limit is reached.

Season: The reallocation fishery will occur from 4 a.m. on October 11th until 4 p.m. on the October 15th or until the quota is caught. Licence holders are not permitted to leave port until 2 a.m. on the day of an opening and must return to port by 6 p.m. the day the fishery closes.

Crew Registry

The inshore regulations require inshore commercial licence holders, and their approved Substitute Operators, to keep records of all the crew members working aboard the vessel on every fishing trip. These records must be maintained by the licence holder for a period of five (5) years.
