Tuna Tag update – October 19th, 2018

As per the conference call late yesterday with DFO and the PEIFA Tuna Advisory Committee, DFO will be issuing another 25 tags from the Canadian Quota draw list from #166 to 190 (inclusive). The Canadian tags will be available for pick up at the DFO Office Friday (today), October 19 at 1:00 pm, contact DFO at 902-566-7844 for more info. Another 9 Mexican tags will also be issued for the PEIFA fleet from Mexican draw #s 228-236 (inclusive) and the PEIFA Office will be contacting those with Mexican tags directly to arrange payment and pick up of tags. Canadian tuna tags will also be available for pickup from DFO on Monday, October 22, from 8:30 am – 4:00 pm.

In consultation with the DFO and the Tuna Advisory Committee, we do not anticipate that anymore tuna tags will be issued, however, a conference call will be held on November 1st to ensure the PEI Fleet get to at least 90% of their quota landed.

If you are on the list for a Mexican Tuna Tag and know that you will NOT be able to go fishing please let the PEIFA know as soon as possible so we can continue down the list and make the best effort to catch the quota.
