MINIMUM LENGTH VARIATION ORDER, 2011-030


The Regional Director General, Gulf Region, Department of Fisheries and Oceans, pursuant to paragraph 43(m) of the Fisheries Act and subsection 6(1) of the Fishery (General) Regulations, hereby makes the annexed Order varying the minimum length for lobster in Lobster Fishing Areas 23, 24, 25, 26A and 26B.

ORDER VARYING THE MINIMUM LENGTH FOR LOBSTER
IN LOBSTER FISHING AREAS 23, 24, 25, 26A AND 26B

Short Title

1. This Order may be cited as the Gulf Region Minimum Length Variation Order 2011-030.

2. Gulf Region Minimum Length Variation Orders 2010-030 and Gulf Region Minimum Length Variation Orders 2010-033 are hereby revoked.

Variation

3. The minimum length as fixed by subsection 57(2) of the Atlantic Fishery Regulations, 1985 is hereby varied so that no person shall possess, in a Lobster Fishing Area set out in column I, a lobster of a length that is less than the length set out in column III of Schedule XIV of this Order.

Coming into Force

4. This Order shall come into force on the date of signature and remains in force, unless otherwise revoked.

Lobster Fishing Sub-Area 23C: Minimum length – 72 mm

Lobster Fishing Sub-Area 23D: Minimum length – 71 mm

Lobster Fishing Area 24: Minimum length - 71 mm

Lobster Fishing Area 25: Minimum length – 71 mm

Lobster Fishing Area 26A:

That portion of Lobster Fishing Area 26A from Havre Boucher to Little Harbour (inclusive) (Known as 26A-2): Minimum Length – 73 mm

And that portion of Lobster Fishing Area 26A from Pugwash, Wallace and Malagash (inclusive) (Known as 26A-3): Minimum Length – 76 mm

Waters of Lobster Fishing Area 26A not mentioned above (Known as 26A-1): Minimum Length -71 mm

Lobster Fishing Area 26B:

That portion of Lobster Fishing Area 26B from Margaree to Pleasant Bay (inclusive)(Known as 26B North): Minimum Length – 80 mm.
Waters of Lobster Fishing Area 26B not mentioned above (Known as 26B South): Minimum Length - 79 mm.
