UPDATE - 2019 Prince Edward Island Bluefin Tuna Season Charlottetown, PE. - Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) today announces that new licence conditions will be issued for eligible Prince Edward Island (PEI) Bluefin Tuna licence holders. Licence conditions will be valid from October 04th until December 31st, 2019. SEASON DATES: The fishery will remain open until December 31st, 2019 or until the quota nears 0 mt. 

 A total of 198 tags are left to be used which would bring PEI to 105% of the quota if the average weight holds at 247kg.  The Tuna Advisory Committee will continue weekly monitoring of the quota and DFO is monitoring landings on a daily basis.  A reminder to all tuna fishers that holding a tag doesn’t mean you are guaranteed a fish.
