2011 ATLANTIC HALIBUT FISHERY FOR
THE PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND FIXED-GEAR FLEET
Moncton – August 31, 2011 - Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) today announced a second
opening for the 2011 Atlantic halibut fishery for the Prince Edward Island (PEI) fixed gear fleet
sector.
The fishery will be open from 12:00 p.m. (noon – Atlantic Daylight Time) until 6:00 p.m. (ADT)
on September 1, 2011.
The remaining quota for the fishery is 11.63 metric tones. The approved gear for this fishery is
longline. The maximum number of hooks per fish harvester has been set at 400.
