GULF REGION CLOSE TIME VARIATION ORDER 2013-020

The Regional Director General, Gulf Region, Department of Fisheries and Oceans, pursuant to paragraph 43(m) of the Fisheries Act and subsection 6(1) of the Fishery (General) Regulations hereby makes the annexed Order varying the close time for fishing for herring in Herring Fishing Area 16E.

ORDER VARYING THE CLOSE TIME
FOR FISHING FOR HERRING IN
HERRING FISHING AREA 16E

Short Title

1. This Order may be cited as the Gulf Region Close Time Variation Order 2013-020.

Variation

2. The close time as fixed by section 40 of the Atlantic Fishery Regulations, 1985 and set out in subitem 16.4 of Schedule VII thereto is hereby varied so that no person shall fish for herring with the type of gear set out in Column II during the close time set out in Column III of Schedule VII of this Order.

Coming Into force

3. This Order shall come into force on the date of signature and remains in force until June 30, 2013, at which time the close time shall revert to those set out in Schedule VII of the said regulations.

PURSUANT TO THE FISHERY (GENERAL) REGULATIONS AND BY THE GULF REGION CLOSE TIME VARIATION ORDER 2013-020, THE HERRING FISHERY IN HERRING FISHING AREA 16E, FOR ALL FIXED GEAR VESSELS WILL BE OPEN BEGINNING AT 12:00 HRS (NOON) ON APRIL 20, 2013, EXCEPT FOR THE FOLLOWING PERIODS:

BEGINNING AT 12:00 HRS (NOON) EACH FRIDAY TO 12:00 HRS (NOON) THE FOLLOWING SATURDAY FOR EVERY WEEKEND STARTING ON APRIL 26 UNTIL MAY 25, 2013, INCLUSIVELY.

FISHERS ARE ADVISED THAT THE HERRING FISHERY IN PORTIONS OF HERRING FISHING AREA 16E, LOCATED WEST OF CAPE EGMONT ON PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND AND ALSO PEACOCK’S COVE LOCATED WEST OF CAPE JOURIMAIN, NEW BRUNSWICK, IS CLOSED FOR FISHING TO ALL HERRING FISHING VESSELS USING ANY TYPE OF GEAR FROM APRIL 18 TO JUNE 30, 2013, INCLUSIVELY.
