CLOSE TIME VARIATION ORDER, 2011-032


The Regional Director General, Gulf Region, Department of Fisheries and Oceans, pursuant to paragraph 43(m) of the Fisheries Act and subsection 6(1) of the Fishery (General) Regulations, hereby makes the annexed Order varying the close time for fishing for lobster in Lobster Fishing Areas 26A and 26B.

ORDER VARYING THE CLOSE TIME FOR FISHING FOR LOBSTER
IN LOBSTER FISHING AREAS 26A AND 26B

Short Title

1. This Order may be cited as the Gulf Region Close Time Variation Order 2011-032.


Variation

2. Gulf Region Close Time Variation Order 2010-042 is hereby revoked.

3. The close time as fixed by section 57 of the Atlantic Fishery Regulations, 1985 and set out in items 26 and 26.1 of Schedule XIV thereto are hereby varied so that no person shall fish for lobster, possess any lobster, or have a lobster trap on board a vessel in a Lobster Fishing Area set out in column I, during the close time set out in column II of Schedule XIV of this Order.

Coming into Force

4. This Order shall come into force on the date of signature and remains in force, unless otherwise revoked.

Those waters of the Northumberland Strait within Lobster Fishing Area 26A enclosed by the coastline and rhumb lines(similar to straight lines plotted on a nautical chart) joining the following points in the order in which they are listed:

NOTICE

The Regional Director General for the Gulf Region, Department of Fisheries and Oceans, hereby gives notice of the following changes in the lobster fishing season for Lobster Fishing Areas 26A and 26B:

Lobster Fishing Area 26A will be open from 06:00 hrs April 30 to 24:00 hrs June 30, except that portion of LFA 26A (from Prim Point to Victoria wharf) where the season will be open from 06:00 hrs May 7 to 24:00 hrs July 7.

Lobster Fishing Area 26B will be open from 06:00 hrs April 30 to 24:00 hrs June 30, except for the waters of Cheticamp Harbour inside a line drawn from the wharf at La Digue to Cheticamp Island, which is closed from January 1 to December 31.
