NOTICE TO ATLANTIC HALIBUT FISH HARVESTERS
FIXED GEAR LESS THAN 19.8 METERS, PEI FLEET

Registration for the 2010 Halibut fishery is now closed. Due to the high level of interest in the fishery, the season has been adjusted slightly. The 2010 allocation for the PEI fleet remains unchanged at 23.2 MT, with the minimum size of halibut measuring 85 cm. The adjustments are as follows:
     • The opening of the PEI Atlantic Halibut fishery is from 6 AM to 6 PM, Tuesday, August 31st,            2010. (Previously, this was listed as 6AM to 9 PM)
     • The maximum number of hooks per harvester has been decreased to 600. (Previously 1000) The      hook size remains the same at 15.4mm.
Following this decision on effort controls, if registered fish harvesters decide not to participate, they have the opportunity to request a refund of the registration fee no later than August 20th, 2010.
