Notice to Fish Harvesters
4T SPRING HERRING INTERIM MANAGEMENT MEASURES
 
Moncton – March 31, 2010
 
Today, the Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) announces interim management measures for the commercial herring fishery in Herring Fishing Areas (HFA) 16A-16G.  
 
Until a total allowable catch (TAC) is announced by DFO, an interim quota of 200 t will be allowed to be caught. The opening dates for various HFAs will be as follows:
 
HFA 16A – April 1
HFA 16B – April 6
HFA 16D – April 12
HFA 16C, 16E, 16F and 16G – April 26
Once a TAC has been set for the spring commercial herring fishery, management measures will be distributed to all stakeholders.
