2009 Gulf Nova Scotia – ATLANTIC HALIBUT (4RST, 3Pn)
FIXED GEAR FLEET
ALLOCATION AND OPENING DATES

The Department of Fisheries and Oceans announces that fishing will be authorized, for Gulf Nova
Scotia fixed gear licence holders fishing Atlantic Halibut in NAFO Division 4T with vessels less than
19.812 metres (65 feet) in overall length. This fishery will take place over a period of 12 hours starting
at 6:00 a.m. on May 6, 2009 and ending at 6:00 p.m. on the same day. This period may be modified
due to inclement weather or other uncontrollable circumstances.
The remaining 2008 quota for the Atlantic Halibut Gulf Nova Scotia fixed gear fleet until May 15
th,

2009 is of 3.2 metric tons. This is a combination of remaining quota from the original 7 t allocation
and the temporary re-allocation of 2.17 t from the mobile sector.
If conditions do not allow for a May 6, 2009 opening, industry will be consulted before a new date is
announced.
