Notice to Fish Harvesters
Moncton - The Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO), Gulf Region, advises the industry that the fall fishing season for rock crab in Lobster Fishing Area (LFA) 25 will open at 7:00 a.m. on October 16, 2011.
In Area 25, a five day period is required between the end of the lobster fishery and the opening of the fall rock crab fishery. This allows the fish harvesters to take their lobster gear off the water and off the wharves, and the DFO fishery officers to verify that no lobster traps remain in the area.
Fish harvesters wishing to participate in the fall fishery are required to have their licence conditions amended prior to commencing fishing activities. Fish harvesters are requested to contact their Licensing Service Center to obtain the amended licence conditions.
2011 Season
Oct 16 at 7:00 a.m. until November 25 at 12:00 a.m.
All other management measures remain the same as for the spring season. Please refer to the June 21, 2011 Notice to fish Harvesters for more details on the management measures.
