In an effort to capture the remaining 2014 PEI Halibut quota of 5.9 metric tons, the PEI Fishermen’s Association will be administering a registration and draw for those fishers with continued interest in fishing halibut. There will be new individual catch limit of 108 kg for those selected in the draw. Those eligible to enter the draw must have previously registered for the 2014 halibut fishery in August 2014. There is no fee for this registration. If the number of registrants exceeds the available quota a draw will proceed.

Details of Registration:
Date/Time: 8:30AM - 4:30PM, Weds, October 15th, 2014 with draw to follow.
Location: 420 University Avenue, Farm Centre, Charlottetown
Required Info: Fishers can register in person, or send a representative with written permission authorizing registration on the fishers’ behalf.

Registrations after 4:30PM, October 15th will NOT be accepted.

The conservation and harvest plan and the list of harvesters will be submitted to The Department of Fisheries & Oceans (DFO) and will be subject to confirmation and approval by DFO.

An anticipated opening date for this final phase of the fishery is Monday, October 20th.
