Update #1 (April 21st, 2026):  LFA 24 Lobster fishery opening date - DELAYED

The PEIFA LFA 24 Lobster Advisory Committee held a call today with DFO to discuss the dredging situation, weather and the upcoming opening day for LFA 24.  At least 3 harbours are impacted and weather for Saturday is not favorable.  Based on these factors, there will be a delay to the LFA 24 lobster fishing season until at least Tuesday, April 28th.  Another conference call will be held on Saturday at 3:30PM for an update on dredge progress and outlook for Tuesday opening.  A DFO Notice to Fish Harvesters confirming this information is expected shortly. We will continue to keep fishers updated after each call.
