Today's market was slightly worse than Saturday as expected. End of the month sales typically are weak.
There are 2 companies that supply Canadian blue fin to TPF in Japan. Compass Seafood and Savi Seafood.
SAVI SEAFOOD - represented by TPF - 3000 tag series (Newfoundland Ex Sector - Hell Hole)
COMPASS SEAFOOD - represented by TPF - 7000 tag series (All fish sold in Sapporo are TIGNISH FISH from Compass Seafood)
Atlantis Seafood - represented by AT - 7000 tag series (Ridge Fish or Tignish)
Boston is starting to catch a few fish but the quality is not great. This of course can change but for now fish are C+ fat.
Weather will prevent Boston from getting out tomorrow and possible Tuesday.
Chubby Fish will be selling roughly 40-50 pieces of Canadian blue fin from Halifax, St. Margarets Bay, Northern Edge, and Hell hole for Thursday and Friday sales in Japan, Oct 1-2. Quality is really mixed. Size composition as well.
Based on today's results (2000 yen average or $4.25 CAD/lb), it looks like an average price of $5.75 for all fish caught in Tignish. Possibly .25 cents per pound more or less depending upon exchange rates and air freight. Fish averaged approximately 2,250 yen for what has sold so far in Japan.
Exchange rates are moving in our favor with YEN strengthening and Canadian dollar weakening.
