The PEI Fishermen’s Association would like to clarify that the FA has not registered to a recent social media forum. Although we are told the unauthorized site did receive much support, this was not approved by the PEIFA Office nor the Board of Directors. Some of the information shared on the page was not verified and it is not in the best interest of this organization to promote misinformation.
The positive support towards fishers witnessed online through many social media networks has been tremendous. And the PEIFA would like to thank all who have been advocating for Island fishermen and fisherwomen. The PEIFA recognizes the continued need to improve communications with the public and the use of social media is proving to be a valuable asset and something the Board will consider moving forward.
The PEIFA have been working on a new promotional campaign, ‘Try a true Prince Edward Island experience, taste wild PEI lobster’ which rolled out this spring to promote our premium Island product. This also includes plans to re-vamp of our own website.
Similarly, ‘Our Story, Our Island, our Fishery’ was produced to highlight lobster fishers on PEI and raise awareness on the importance of the fishery to PEI. This is available for viewing online through www.youtube.com and via our website www.peifa.org , feel free to share online. Click the following link to view now: www.youtube.com/watch
