From letter to Ed Frenette from DFO-Canadian Coast Guard

As a Special Operating Agency focused on client services, the Coast Guard has embarked on an initiative to review the levels of service provided through programs to our many clients across the country. The objectives of the review are as follows:

• Increase understanding of CCG levels of service.
• Listen to client views on the appropriateness and relevance of CCG services.
• Identify perceived gaps and variances in services that may exist and seek regional consensus about those gaps; and
• Evaluate feedback received from stakeholders and clients in the context of possible recommendations for improving services to clients.

 

Imput form our clients, such as yourself or those represented by your organization, is critical to ensuring the success of this review. A dedicated website (http://www.ccg-gcc.gc.ca/losnds/main_e.htm) has been created for this initiative to allow easy access to a comprehensive document:  Levels of Service and Service Standards. Discussions with representatives from the shipping industry, fishers, and recreational boaters will be held in targeted areas across the country this fall.

The first of our LOS sessions was held during the CMAC on October 3rd, 2007, in Halifax, NS. Other sessions will be held at the following locations so that together we can discuss the Canadian Coast Guard levels of service:

Wednesday, October 24 -1:00pm-4:00pm - Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre, 606 Reeves St., Port Hawkesbury, NS

Tuesday, October 30-9:00am-12:00pm - Delta Barrington(MacAvity Room), 39 KingSt., Saint John, NB

Wednesday, November 14-9.00am-12:00pm - Best Western, 238 Grafton St., Charlottetown, PE

Wednesday, November 21 - 9:00am-12:00pm-Rodd Grand, 417 Main St., Yarmouth, NS.

Please confirm your attendance with Ruth Fahie, Assistant Commissioner's Office CCG, Maritimes at 902-426-3908. In order to prepare for the session, you are encouraged to review the Levels of Service and Service Standards document prior to the meeting.

Alternatively, if you are unable to attend, your comments on the clarity of the description of services in the document and your assessment of possible gaps or variances in services may be sent to us using the on-line comment form available on the web site or by traditional mail. If your have comments that your would like to discuss, please contact the Director, Maritim Services at (902-426-9022). Please ensure that we receive your comments by November 30, 2007.
