Department of Fisheries & Oceans has advised the PEIFA of their decision on the status of the LFA 26A lobster season opening date. This is following a conference call this morning with LFA 26A reps in NS and PEI as well as DFO from each area.

DFO has decided that LFA 26A1 (PEI&NS) will open as scheduled on 6am, Weds, April 30th, 2014!

In terms of other areas:
• LFA 24, LFA 26A2, LFA 26B South all on a 24 hour delay so 6AM, May 1st opening
• LFA 26A3 NS will proceed with 6Am, Weds April 30th opening.
• LFA 23 are looking at a one week delay (ice).

DFO is sending out a Notice to fishers later this afternoon and a variation order will also be sent out confirming the above.
