ISLAND WIDE SHUT DOWN CONTINUES INTO WEEKEND - PEIFA PUSHING FOR MEETING WITH ALL PROCESSORS/BUYERS

Today marks the fourth day of boat tie ups across PEI as lobster fishers protest low lobster prices. Island fishers stand united and support from NS and NB inshore harvesters has been widespread as they too have tied up their boats in support.

Behind the scenes, much work is being done by the PEIFA and Lobster Advisory reps. We are pushing to have ALL Processors/buyers at the table to discuss this serious situation in the Lobster Industry. Provincial and Federal Governments have been asked to intervene and advocate to bring all together immediately for meaningful talks. We will advise the membership as soon we have something concrete to report.

The PEIFA encourage all Island fishers to contact their local MLAs/MPs to bring awareness to the situation and encourage all parties to meet on this most pressing issue.
