Up to 1000 supporters attended the public rally today in Charlottetown in support of PEI lobster fishers seeking a fair price for their catch! Fishers initiated tying up their boats on Weds over serious concern with lobster prices on PEI which led to an unprecedented Island wide tie up of all PEI fleets on Thursday, May 9th, 2013. The rally raised awareness both with local and national media in attendance, and demonstrated the magnitude of support for this industry.
An Island wide lobster boat tie up continues on PEI into Friday, May 10th, 2013. Fishers in other Provinces in the Gulf (NS and NB) are also showing support by also tying up tomorrow.
