We have asked Chris Mills (DFO Resource Management in Ch’town) to present information on the recent Gulf DFO decision to create a green crab commercial fishery on PEI. They are looking at allocating 25 licenses on PEI and they are also looking to adopt the NS policy around transferring fyke net eel licenses to green crab licenses.

The information meeting is scheduled for March 20th, 2014 at 10AM in Room 107, Farm Centre, Charlottetown and is open to ALL who would like to know more about the proposed fishery. Chris will have a short presentation and will answer questions on the proposed fishery as well. DFO is also looking to create a Green Crab Advisory, and I’ve noted the PEIFA will want to be represented on this Committee.

Please pass this info along to anyone who may be interested in attending.

For more info, contact Chris at DFO at 566-7807,
