Finalized Date for the Fishermen’s Forum 2016:
"Sustaining the Fisheries: Challenges and Changes"

When: November 21st- 22nd, 2016
Where: The Charles V. Keating Millennium Centre, St. Francis Xavier University - Antigonish, NS

Please excuse us, and our shuffling dates around! The Gulf Aquarium and Marine Station is lining up some great topics of discussion for this year's forum. Some of the tentative discussion topics include:

  • Lobster, changing water temperatures, and acidification
  • Groundfish in the Gulf
  • Emerging fisheries - Green crab, sea cucumber, 3D-Farming
  • Fishermen Science
  • Snow Crab and changing temperatures
  • Bait Challenges - status, and alternatives
  • Aquaculture challenges and changes

The Forum will again take place over two days, consisting of four or five panel discussions per day, allowing more time for follow-up questions, and discussion. Topics of discussion will be introduced by experts, and participants will then take part in round-table discussions related to collaborative research. These discussions will directly influence the final report on challenges and changes in the fisheries, and the potential for collaboration between researchers and fishermen.
