The PEI FISHERMEN’S ASSOCIATION invites PEIFA members with Bluefin Tuna licenses to enter a draw to choose fishers for its Bluefin Catch and Release trial fishery project.
Two teams of ten experienced fishers/vessels will be chosen to fish in waters off Western, PEI and in waters off Eastern, PEI in September 2010. 25 Bluefin must be caught, tagged and released in each area. Each team will be paid a fee of $50,000 to catch tag and release 25 Bluefin.
Registrations for the draw will be held at the following locations:
-Legion Branch #27, Bloomfield, Thursday, August 19 from 11AM to 5PM
-Red’s Corner (former Whim Inn), Friday, August 20th from 11AM to 5PM
-Farm Center, 420 University Ave., Charlottetown, Monday, August 23rd from 11AM to 5PM.
Persons unable to enter at Bloomfield or RED’S CORNER may register on Monday at the Farm Center. Names will be drawn at 5:30PM, Monday, August 23rd, 2010 at the Farm Center, Charlottetown.
The registration fee for members of the PEIFA is fifty dollars ($50.00) inclusive of GST. 2010 PEIFA memberships can be purchased for $105.00 (GST included). Fishers will need to choose which area (Western or Eastern) they would like to fish.
Fishers are requested to apply in person and be in possession of their FIN number and personal identification. Those unable to register in person may send a representative with written permission authorizing him/her to register on the fisher’s behalf. The rep must be in possession of the fisher’s FIN number and must also indicate which area East or West they want to enter. For more information please contact Pat O’Neill at the PEIFA 566-4050.
