On behalf of the Southern Kings Ministerial Association, I would like to pass an announcement on to the PEIFA membership.

Growing up in Murray Harbour, I have witnessed men and women who with have worked with all their might at the trade of the sea to provide for their families.  They have forged a way where there seemed to be no way.  They were pioneers, captains, who were willing to take a risk, to set sail with no guarantee of return or reward.  They vowed to take the good with the bad, to make it work and to hope for a better catch next season.  The fisherman's faith is impacted by seeing the sunrise on the horizon and feeling the calming of the stormy seas!  Life is lived in rhythm with the changing seasons.

Our communities have generational connections to the fishery here on the Island.  As a ministerial, we host a blessing of the fleet each year with this community connection to the sea in mind.  It is our prayer that the upcoming season of work on the water will be successful, and safe.

On Sunday April 23, 2017 our various churches will be offering a prayer of blessing for the fishery during their morning worship services.  This will be followed by a brief 12:30pm community waterfront gathering at  the Glad Tidings Pentecostal Church shoreline located at 9393 main street Murray River.   We would like to invite fishers from across the Island to join us for this waterfront gathering as we offer prayers of blessing together.

Thanks,

Rev. Scott Herring
