DFO is collecting feedback from fishers on the development of a spring herring rebuilding plan. A meeting will be held for fishers at the O’leary Legion on Monday, March 9^th at 10AM. Marc Lanteigne, with DFO, will be providing an overview of the status of spring herring and will be looking for feedback on ways and strategies to rebuild the herring spring spawner component in the southern Gulf, in accordance with the renewed Fisheries Act. Click on the links below for more information on this exercise and to download/view the DFO workbook which can be used as a guide for responses and feedback. Fishers also have the option of filling out the workbook separately or providing any written comments to DFO by emailing Marc.Lanteigne@dfo-mpo.gc.ca . DFO would like to have comments submitted by March 18^th, 2020, in an effort to relay those comments at the next DFO Working Group meeting but will accept feedback following that date as well.
