MINIMUM LENGTH VARIATION ORDER, 2011-033


The Regional Director-General, Gulf Region, Department of Fisheries and Oceans, pursuant to paragraph 43(m) of the Fisheries Act and subsection 6(1) of the Fishery (General) Regulations, hereby makes the annexed Order varying the minimum length for lobster in the Provinces of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Quebec.

ORDER VARYING THE MINIMUM LENGTH FOR LOBSTER IN THE PROVINCES
OF NEW BRUNSWICK, NOVA SCOTIA, PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND AND QUEBEC

Short Title

1. This Order may be cited as the Gulf Region Minimum Length Variation Order 2011-033.

2. Gulf Region Minimum Length Variation Order 2009-038 is hereby revoked.

Variation

3. The minimum length as fixed by subsection 59(1) of the Atlantic Fishery Regulations, 1985 is hereby varied so that no person shall buy, sell, or have in his possession any lobster of a length that is less than 71 mm.


Coming into Force

4. This Order shall come into force on the date of signature and remains in force, unless otherwise revoked.

 

 

 


NOTICE

The Regional Director General for the Gulf Region, Department of Fisheries and Oceans, hereby gives notice that no person shall buy, sell, or have in his possession any lobster of a length that is less than 71 mm in the Provinces of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Quebec.

Please Note:

While the minimum length to buy, sell or be in possession of lobster is 71 mm in the Provinces of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Quebec, other more restrictive Variation Orders establish the minimum size for lobster that is allowed to be fished in each of the Lobster Fishing Areas. Those Variation Orders remain in effect.

Gulf Region Minimum Length Variation Order 2011-033 comes into force on May 3, 2011, and remains in force unless otherwise revoked.

Gulf Region Minimum Length Variation Order 2009-038 is hereby revoked.
