AMENDED LICENCE CONDITIONS AVAILABLE FOR THE
ATLANTIC HALIBUT LICENCE HOLDERS – PEI FLEET

Moncton, Charlottetown – In view of the recent mortalities of North Atlantic right whales in the
southern Gulf of St. Lawrence, additional measures must be taken to protect this endangered species.
Therefore, an additional clause has been added to the ongoing Prince Edward Island Atlantic halibut
licence conditions requesting that fish harvesters do not set their lines where North Atlantic right
whales have been recently been reported. If there is a right whale sighting in the area after the gear is
set, the fishing gear must be removed immediately providing the gear can be removed without further
increasing risks to the whales.
LICENCE HOLDERS MUST PRINT THESE AMENDED LICENCE CONDITIONS PRIOR TO
LEAVING THE PORT AS SOONS AS JULY 25, 2107.
